Elon Musk is the most successful builder of all time, because he found his purpose as a boy.
His reading of philosophy, particularly the German variety, kicked off an existential crisis, that ushered a new era for humanity.
Nietzsche: Emphasized the will to power, questioned traditional values, and introduced the idea of the “Übermensch” (overman or superman). He proclaimed “God is dead,” reflecting the decline of religious authority in modernity.
Schopenhauer: Believed in the primacy of will over intellect. Life, according to him, is driven by a ceaseless desire that can never be fully satisfied, leading to suffering.
Kant: Central figure in modern philosophy. He argued that human knowledge is constructed by the mind and isn’t merely a reflection of the external world. Introduced the idea of the “categorical imperative” for moral reasoning.
Elon does not recommend reading these philosophers as a teenager, as it initially led him to a pretty dark place. But the end result is, we owe Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, 𝕏, xAI, and more, to the purpose he found from said study.
His early existential musings shaped his ambitious goals, such as colonizing Mars, which Elon sees as the best way to safeguard humanity and to ensure the long-term survival of consciousness.
We humans have an innate need for purpose, a guiding principle that adds depth, meaning, and direction to life. Just going through the motions can lead to a life of repetition and monotony, devoid of deeper fulfillment. By actively seeking purpose, individuals can transcend the mundane and connect with something larger than themselves.
Purpose is what differentiates a life lived from a life truly experienced. It’s the compass that guides our decisions, fuels our passions, and provides resilience in the face of adversity. Without purpose, our actions can become aimless, and life can feel empty, even if it’s filled with activities.
Furthermore, numerous studies have shown that those with a clear sense of purpose experience better mental well-being, reduced stress, and even increased longevity. They have a reason to wake up in the morning, a passion that drives them, and a vision that guides them.
I have been too busy building the org to put much meaningful content on 𝕏 for the past week or so, but I’ve been blessed to have some incredible conversations with others and their personal missions. It is after all, the glue that holds the Penny2x organization together, and separates us from the pack.
I’m thrilled to be inspiring people to find their purpose. It is all too common these days to get caught in the day to day, letting our precious hours pass without taking the time to discover why we are really here.
Finding my purpose has changed my life. I’m no billionaire, and I never will be, but focus on purpose, mission mission mission, has started the momentum that will allow me to make a real impact.
It has already started. Penny2x Community members are eating better, exercising more, and taking time to think about how they want to leave their mark.
I am so damn proud. Proud of myself, proud of the team I am building, and proud of everyone making even a tiny bit more effort to find their mission than they were before discovering the mysterious Penny2x on 𝕏.
If we all work together, we can defeat this great filter. We can populate the universe with love.
